Debra B. Davenport

Debra Brittain Davenport is the president and founder of Davenport Public Relations/The Davenport Institute. With more than 20 years of experience as a senior public relations executive and agency director, she brings to West Virginia University a broad range of industry expertise, ranging from corporate, fashion and media, to health care, legal and nonprofit. Davenport has appeared as a guest expert on numerous media channels, including Dr. Phil, Yahoo Hot Jobs, VideoJug.com, Career Clinic, FOX Television and KSYY-FM radio. She has been a syndicated columnist for both national and international publications, and she served as the national spokesperson for the Panasonic global brand. She is a contributor to the book, “Some Leaders Are Born Women,” and the author of “Career Shuffle.” Davenport is also an internationally-recognized fashion designer; her fashions have appeared on television and on the red carpet in Hollywood.
Davenport is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and its Publicist Peer Group. She is also active in other professional organizations.
Davenport holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication
arts from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, and a
Ph.D. in education with a specialization in communication from the
Universidad Empresarial in San Jose, Costa Rica (U.S. degree equivalency
by NACES). She is represented by the Leighton Talent Agency and listed on the Hollywood Celebrity Source roster.
