Helena Angell, PhD, has over 15 years of teaching experience in higher education. She has taught courses in advertising, public relations and mass media in a number of venues, and enjoys the opportunity to interact with students on all levels. Her PhD in Mass Communication was completed at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a Master of Arts in Mass Communication, also completed at the University of Florida.
Prior to her teaching career, Dr. Angell was a public relations practitioner in San Francisco, Atlanta and throughout NE Florida. She developed integrated marketing campaigns for clients ranging from small non-profit organizations to large community events, such as air shows.
Dr. Angell’s specialty areas are media literacy, semiotics and persuasive communication. Her media literacy curriculum developed through reviewing youth culture and media’s role in the development of identity and social relationships.
She currently resides in St. Augustine, Florida, a resort town nestled next to the Atlantic Ocean. Her interests include water sports and enjoying the beach with Rose, her Standard Poodle.
