Julie Link is the director of research and consumer insights at Scripps Networks Interactive (SNI), headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee. SNI’s portfolio includes HGTV, DIY Network, Food Network, Cooking Channel and Travel Channel. At SNI, Link designs, analyzes and presents “voice of the viewer” projects on brand health, audience segmentation, program development and new business development.
Beginning her career in the media hotbed of New York City, Link rose from sales assistant to research analyst in just two years. Seeking a greater challenge, Link accepted a position in SNI’s research department as a media research analyst in 2001. After focusing on building and growing the DIY Network brand, Link established the consumer insights initiative at SNI in 2009. She began working on projects to understand the meaning of home in the lives of HGTV’s viewers. As a right-brained researcher, the insight Link uncovers informs and inspires network decision-makers in advertising, sales, marketing, programming and business development.
In May 2015, Link earned a Master of Science in integrated marketing communications at West Virginia University to augment her undergraduate degree in telecommunications from Indiana University. Link was a fellow in the International Radio and Television Society Summer Fellowship Program and earned Women in Cable Telecommunication’s Rising Star Award. She is currently serving a double-term on the board of directors for the Home Improvement Research Institute, as well as serving as a mentor in a corporate mentoring program.
