Kathleen DeMarco has reached out to external and internal audiences, including the regional news assignment editors and reporters at media outlets in New York, Washington, Atlanta, Salt Lake, Philadelphia and Indianapolis. Her interest in IMC 612 Audience Insight, also includes her teaching of diverse student populations at Georgia State University in Atlanta and Suffolk Community College, a SUNY unit, on Long Island, New York. Recent conference presentations reflect her academic interests in pedagogy and instructional technology. Recent papers were given in Arlington, Virginia at the Community College Humanities Association and in Atlanta at the South Atlantic Modern Language Association. Kathleen advanced environmental and economics initiatives for the land-grant colleges of Georgia, Maryland and New York, through press initiatives, television hosting, and legislative liaison. She was a national winner of the Pioneer Award from the Agricultural Communicators in Education. This work also reflects her interest in green marketing, which she has taught as part of the IMC 621 seminar.
Kathleen worked for the International Broadcast Center (IBC) at the Atlanta Olympic Games, assisting producers and reporters from such countries as Norway and Italy. She translated the script of the closing ceremonies into French to assist radio broadcasts into West Africa. Kathleen was a Rotary Group Study Exchange (GSE) team member to the northeastern Japanese prefectures of Ibaraki and Tochigi. Her undergraduate work was completed at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, and her master’s degree from the University of Georgia, with additional graduate work in public communication at the University of Maryland and web usability at Florida State University online.
