Mark Tietbohl

Teaches IMC 629 - Mobile Marketing and IMC 642 - Web Metrics & SEO

In addition to serving as an adjunct instructor for web analytics/SEO and mobile marketing in West Virginia University’s integrated marketing communications (IMC) program, Mark Tietbohl is currently engaged in providing marketing and business development strategy support to technology industry clients.

Most recently, Tietbohl was absorbed with new business development for Lowe’s Home Improvement, with a focus on developing and testing new service programs and selling/marketing approaches. His considerable background in direct response, web marketing and enterprise selling systems was helpful in this effort. One of the project teams Tietbohl was involved with built a business that went from start up to $500 million in annual revenue in five years and currently continues to experience growth in double digits. His most recent project involved acting as a business lead on an initiative combining several large technology platforms and data bases to support Lowe’s Omni channel selling efforts across stores, in-home sales, and call centers.

Tietbohl spent more than 12 years building a full service direct mail company specializing in the design and execution of test campaigns for clients in the financial services, pharmaceutical, automotive, information technology and CPM industries. During this time, he and his team helped develop initial offers and testing paradigms (A/B, multivariate) used in pilot programs for such clients as American Express, GEICO, McNeil, Just Born Candies and The Franklin Mint.

Tietbohl was an early participant in web development and e-commerce, assisting both business to consumer and business to business companies in the development of an online web and selling presence while acting as a marketing consultant/project manager and as marketing vice president for a niche consumer marketer. One client was successful enough in this area that they completely abandoned their retail footprint in supermarkets and specialty food stores.

He has also taught graphic arts, campaign marketing and global marketing coursework at the university level on an adjunct basis, most recently at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte. He holds Bachelor of Science from Illinois Institute of Technology, a Master of Business Administration from Seton Hall University and a graduate certificate in IMC from West Virginia University. Given that Tietbohl’s family is scattered across the continental United States, his interests include travel, and when time permits, golf. Originally from Pennsylvania, Mark has lived in several locations throughout his career, and currently resides with his wife, Debora, in Boynton Beach, FL.
