Philip R. Sturm

Philip Sturm, Ph.D., is a tenured full professor at Averett University, teaching Master of Business Administration classes to adult learners at five Virginia locations. He has 15 years of college instruction experience including serving the University of Maryland’s online Master of Business Administration program and teaching in Europe for James Madison University. His experiences also include teaching doctoral classes and serving on doctoral dissertation committees.
Prior to his academic career, Sturm worked 20 years for clients and advertising agencies in consumer goods marketing. Brand management services were provided to more than 100 brands from Procter & Gamble, Sara Lee Corp., R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., Coca-Cola, Jeno’s Pizza, and other national and regional firms. He received the “Display of the Year” award and the “Promotion of the Year” award from Advertising Age, and was a keynote speaker at the annual meeting for Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI).
He earned his doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University and his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from Murray State University.
