Shelly K. Stump

Teaches IMC 610 - Introduction to IMC

Shelly Stump has spent almost 20 years working in higher education marketing communications. She currently serves as program director for West Virginia University’s Office of Graduate Admissions and Recruitment, where she works collaboratively with college leadership to develop, implement and evaluate creative and effective comprehensive communication and marketing plans to increase graduate student enrollment.

Prior to her current role, she spent eight years with WVU’s Integrated Marketing Communications Graduate Program as Director of Advising and Recruitment. She implemented strategic recruitment methods to help grow the program’s enrollment to record numbers. Stump also served eight years as a marketing specialist in the healthcare industry. She developed marketing and communication plans to recruit students and increase visibility for three academic healthcare programs, as well as to increase patient visits and physician referrals to the University Hospital and various outpatient clinics.

Stump also spent 10 years working in the cable television industry for cable service providers FrontierVision, Times Mirror Cable Television and Cox Communications, currently the nation’s third-largest cable provider. Her responsibilities included strategic planning and promotion of existing and new product lines, such as digital phone service, digital cable service, wireless phone service and high-speed Internet access.
