About Bill Oechsler
Bill Oechsler is chief marketing officer for Denver-based Furniture Row Companies. Operating 330 stores in 31 states, the privately held company has become one of America’s largest furniture and bedding retailers. The company is the owner and primary sponsor of Furniture Row Racing, making it the only NASCAR Cup team headquartered west of the Mississippi.
Before joining Furniture Row, Bill was president of EthnoGraphic Media, an educational nonprofit producing/distributing films exploring some of today’s most critical issues. Concurrently, Bill was adjunct instructor at West Virginia University’s Integrated Marketing Communications program and president of XLER | Marketing & Brand Consultancy.
Previously, Bill was executive vice president of marketing at Zondervan, an international publishing house and HarperCollins company owned by NewsCorp. Before Zondervan, Bill served as president and chief strategic officer of Hanon McKendry where he led many of the brand consultant’s business development and client strategy initiatives.
Bill began his marketing career at Leo Burnett USA where he managed research and planning efforts for McDonald's, Sony, Philip Morris (Marlboro), Reebok, P&G, and Walt Disney World. National recognition for his marketing communications efforts includes two Effies, an Obie, Gabriel, Silver Anvil, New York Festival World Medal, two Pollies, two Print Magazine Awards, a Web Award, Webby Worthy Award, Marketing Sherpa Silver Mouse, four Audies (including Audiobook of the Year), and more than a dozen Telly Awards.
Bill graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He holds a B.S. in speech (organizational communications sequence) and an M.A. in journalism (public relations sequence with statistics minor).
