Misc. Facts – After graduating with a degree in Marketing, I actually started my career in recruiting, specializing in email marketing ,writing job postings, and recruiting databases for a Healthcare Management company. I enjoyed my job, but didn't see myself as a recruiter so I transitioned to Event Planning. Several of the same marketing characteristics carry over, but I 'm able to use my communication skills to plan and promote events. I've been in this role for two years now, and when I'm not working or traveling, I enjoy living in the suburbs of Philadelphia with my husband. I finished the IMC degree in three years, and the time really flew! Along the way I planned a wedding, and took time off to enjoy Costa Rica on our honeymoon.
Capstone Experience – I won't lie - when starting the capstone experience, I felt overwhelmed and pretty nervous. Even the toughest classes were manageable while working full-time, but the length and time commitment needed for the capstone felt a little daunting. However, the guidance and support from other students made the experience enjoyable and a lot of fun. Creating a campaign for the ALS Association, a non-profit organization that is near and dear to me, was motivation to do the best I could. My advice to other students starting their capstone experience is to not over think it and just be creative. You've already mastered the skills along the way, so now put it all together and have fun!
