About the Award

Alexia Vanides

The Alexia Vanides Online Teaching Award recognizes WVU Reed College of Media instructors who have positively impacted a student’s online educational experience. Each year, students nominate instructors they believe are highly effective and inspiring educators and mentors in the Data Marketing Communications or Integrated Marketing Communications programs.

The first online teaching award in the WVU Reed College of Media recognized instructor Alexia Vanides in 2009. Alexia was an inspiration to many IMC students and instructors. She was committed to excellence in her classrooms and passionate about supporting her students and colleagues. Sadly, Alexia passed away in 2011. In honor of her tremendous service and inspiration to so many students and instructors, the program has since dedicated our online teaching award to her remembrance.

The Alexia Vanides Online Teaching Award is based solely and entirely on student nominations. The recipient is recognized during the annual Integrate Conference.
