Instructor Bio
Jim Johnson is an adjunct instructor for the West Virginia University Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) program, as well as a marketing and communications consultant in Columbus, Ohio. Over the past 25 years, Jim has held the position of Group Creative Director and Global Creative Director at major advertising agencies in New York, Frankfurt, Germany and Columbus, Ohio. These agencies include Saatchi & Saatchi, Grey Worldwide and the inVentiv Health Network. In the process, he has crafted campaigns for iconic brands such as Tide, Pringles, Pampers, Olay, E.J. Gallo Wines, Clairol, and Toys ‘R Us. During his nine years as Global Creative Director, Jim created, supervised and coordinated advertising that ran in over 30 countries and developed innovative equity management tools for global use.

For the inVentiv Health network, his focus shifted to B2B and consumer healthcare clients such as Similac, Ensure, Novo Nordisk, HealthMart, GSK, and P&G FutureWorks. His campaigns expanded across all touch points from trade exhibits and interactive sales materials to event marketing and consumer mobile. Most recently, he served as Creative Director for McGraw-Hill Education’s in-house marketing and design department.

As an instructor, he has created and taught a wide variety of design and marketing courses relating to the effective use of creativity in communication. His students have received multiple One Show Pencils and national ADDY awards.

Speaking engagements include the P&G Cannes Seminar, S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University and the Columbus MBA Innovation Symposium. He has been a consultant for the P&G/Walmart Healthcare Summit and P&G FutureWorks. His work has garnered multiple creative and brand building awards including the P&G Global Brand Building award, AICP Gold, Gold Effie, Clio and Mobius. His commercials are part of the permanent collection at MOMA and have appeared in the AdAge Top Ten Ads of the Year list.
