Robin Cobbey

 Lead Instructor, IMC 611 - Marketing Research & Analysis

Instructor Bio
Dr. Cobbey holds a B.A. in Anthropology and M.A. in Journalism from Ohio State University.  Her doctorate is in Mass Communications with a minor in Marketing from Syracuse University, where she held the John Ben Snow Research Assistantship in the Communications Research Center at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. 

Dr. Cobbey has been actively involved in the field for 30 years.  She held management positions at Knight Ridder Newspapers, Minneapolis Star Tribune, and the San Francisco Chronicle.  She has been on the forefront of new media technology beginning in the early 1980’s with the first interactive information service developed by Knight Ridder and AT&T in southern Florida. She started Cobbey & Associates in 1995 to provide full service marketing research including qualitative and quantitative. She provided marketing research, website development and usability testing for many of the early dot.coms.  Her clients include Charles Schwab, USAToday, Hewlett-Packard, Tanimura & Antle, Guthy-Renker, The Oakland Tribune, and The San Jose Mercury News.  Her company continues to assist clients with their marketing and research needs. She has an interest in NevadaTravel.Net, a travel resource for the state of Nevada, serving tourists to the state for over 10 years.

Dr. Cobbey has been teaching marketing and marketing research in distance education graduate programs for over 15 years.  She has been teaching Marketing Research and Analysis in the IMC program for 11 years.  As Lead Instructor, she actively works to improve the course, paying close attention to feedback from students and other faculty members.

In her spare time, Dr. Cobbey enjoys the outdoors, travel and cooking.  She lives in Gold Hill, Nevada with her husband, David Toll, a writer.
