Misc. Facts – As a teenager, I attended military school, which I am thankful for now because it gave me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. When I graduated from undergrad, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, so I went to Japan to teach English for a year. It was by far the best and most educational experience of my life. I highly recommend it to new graduates looking to expand their horizons.

Since returning from Japan in 2006, I’ve worked in a public affairs capacity, both in the public and private sector. I have always been interested in government and politics and was thrilled to have the opportunity to choose my own client for the capstone course. With the 2016 presidential election on the horizon, I knew that I wanted to pick a candidate for my client. Donald Trump is one of the most unique presidential candidates in history, which is why I am glad I chose him because this was by far the most exciting project that I have ever completed.

Capstone Experience – For me, the capstone project was the most challenging course in the IMC program, but it was also the most rewarding. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, which made me happy. I am a firm believer that you learn the most when your limits are tested. It was also the most enjoyable course for me because I had the opportunity to develop a concept from beginning to end.

If I could give any advice, like most of my peers, I highly recommend organizing your thoughts and work schedule in the first week of the course. Work on your project a little each day. Do not get behind, and most importantly, don’t be afraid and have fun! Always remember that your capstone project is your baby. Like raising children, it is a process. Don’t expect to do everything at once. Let your ideas percolate. Put your heart and soul into it and you will be astounded by the result.
